Terry Moston
Freelance author of teaching and learning materials for English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
Based in Germany, Terry is a British modern languages teacher of French and German turned EFL author and advisor. He has been materially involved in helping to reform the direction of English language teaching in German schools, spearheading communication-based teaching materials. Early materials such as Issues and Challenges were an important part of the codifications of communicative EFL exercises type which were systematised in “The Communicative Teaching of English“ (ed. Chris Candlin), which was widely used as a handbook in many countries for developing the newer generations of materials in the 70s and 80s. Following in the wake of such popular materials, many mainline educational publishers eventually reformed their coursebooks into a compromise form of grammar / structure-based and situational / communicative sequences, still not as good as they could be, but miles ahead of what they were.
In Terry’s publications list, you will find many of the important teaching materials which played a part in the reform process, notably “English in Action“ and “Issues“.
After producing more than 100 ISBNs in Germany as a professional author, he is helping to develop modern teaching materials in Poland. He also helps the academic community with polishing their English-language lectures and firms producing successful PR materials in English.
As a freelance author, he is always looking for interesting projects to work on.
